The Flaming Lips - God Only Knows (Beach Boys Cover)


I love this song it’s opening line:

“I may not always love you”

Was supposed to be scraped as it was deemed to dark for the introduction to a ‘love song’, and I guessed it opened the doors to a new kind of ‘love song’ because of.

I wrote a song today, which is an unofficial follow up to “God Only Knows” but it follows my life instead, and a relationship in which we shared the song as ‘our song’, it starts with the line:

“I’m sorry the stars above you all burnt out”

HOLY SHIT WHAT A WEEK!

I’ve not been to bed before 5am, and out again by 8am.
Refurbished my recording studio…looks bitching, but still has about a week worth of work to go.

Finished an EP, sounds bitching, will post links as soon as I can, have to wait for the bands all clear.

Stayed up all night with a random stranger playing music with her on Friday night, literally all night, I was awake from 8am Friday, until 4am Sunday. It was a living hell…worth it though. 

Anyway I procrastinate, I have and album to finish, a beard to shave off, a body to wash, an outside to explore, and a life to live.

The face of a man, struggling to write a song.I have all these ideas in my head of what I want the song to sound like, but not a single clue of riffs or melodies, or lyrics really. Also torn between making it nasty or nice, I tend to toe the line, but this is it…either I care or I don’t. NOW SONG WRITE YOURSELF!

I painted this for my aunts 50th, I personally thought it was really poor for my standard of work…but time restraint and two jobs meant I couldn’t start from scratch. Thought she’d hate it, see it as rushed, but she didn’t. She did notice the rabbit is depressed and commented but I pointed out she’s a make up tester rabbit that’s why she’s so said, I like making up background stories to my paintings!

I don’t really want to kill the person in the song, but I was pretty close to wanting to, if they fuck with me again who the hell knows!

Trying to write a happy love song…

Is really hard.
It always ends up too POP/CHEESY.
Plus when you’re not actually in a happy relationship, it’s much easier to right about all the negative crap.

This is all I have:

“It’s so cold.
What am I supposed to do.
I am lightsyears away, when I should be there with you.
Consuming copious amounts of soup to mend my man size case of rhinovirus.
I want a day of David Lynch films and you.”

Yes it’s terrible.
Real writers block on the happiness front.
Not so good as this is part of my job…
